Living Fearless Women's Study beginning in March - online through zoom

This study is full. There is a waiting list available for the next one.

For women who desire to grow in kingdom principles in peace of mind and strength of spirit. Discussion will include how to grow into who you are called to be to bless God, your family and others in the midst of challenging life and relational circumstances.

The Bethany House Project

These past couple of months have been full of opportunity and exploration of possibilities for our Bethany House Project. Thank you to those of you who have given time in prayer, collaboration, and finances toward this vision and the building of it.

The first Bethany House client stayed with us for 4 months. This first experience and "trying out" the vision was incredibly rewarding. To see the growth of this woman was inspiring, encouraging, and a confirmation to continue on with what God has put on our hearts in this area.

We have been in search of a property that better suits this project and our family interests.

We have had our eye on a property in Wisconsin since last summer and had the opportunity to see it and meet the owner the end of January. It has exactly what we have been looking for and we discussed and settled on a price. We are now in the process of selling our property in Montana and will move forward as things progress and as God leads.

Counseling - Teaching People how to grow the Garden of Relationship

Going through the counseling and mentoring process is much like preparing and planting a garden. It takes a lot of work.

At the beginning we help the client in assessing their situation and identifying what they are actually dealing with. Then we give them some tools to help with their journey. They learn who they are called by God to be and release false identities. They learn what it means to receive from God before they give to others. With their tools they begin to identify and pull a lot of weeds of unhealthy mindsets and behaviors. They learn to identify lies and replace them with truth. They learn that feelings aren't the enemy but very important signals that God has given us to make us aware when something is off and how to remedy that.

After these steps, the soil is prepared. The client gains understanding in who they are in relationship with themself, God, and others in their life. They do on-going work towards healing unhealthy childhood issues and taking steps to approach relationships differently depending on what they are facing. They learn their spirit, soul (the mind, will and emotions) and body are important and nourishing and caring for them is important. Addictions to substances and behaviors begin to be faced. Trauma is prayerfully explored and processed.

Then we plant and start practicing the new relational skills, building awareness and attunement. They consider how they are affecting others and how others are affecting them, and they pull more weeds. They feed and water new plantings of seeds by practicing healthy mindsets and behaviors that are life giving and produce peace and satisfaction. They learn how protect the little plants of new mindsets and behaviors from excessive temps, wind, and storms when those show up, because they always do.

If we are working with a married couple after their individual work is in a good place, we bring them together for sessions to work out any remaining issues and as each issue is faced it builds emotional connection and closeness. The rupture and repair process, while painful at first, begins to make sense and talking about all the hard things that were off limits becomes doable and strengthening. After enough strength is gained they begin to live life in a different and much more satisfying way.

So often we humans want to jump to the planting in the healing process, but when we do that the seeds of a renewed and more satisfying life can not survive. They are eventually overtaken by the weeds and poor soil of past mindsets, and behaviors. We are throwing seeds to the weeds when we push healing to quickly. Any concepts quickly grasped can not be sustained with so many weeds, thorns, and thistles still present. Renewing the mind takes time, purpose and effort in cooperation with God and His Spirit working the heart and mind.

We are seeing steady growth in our counseling clients who consistently do the work needed to transform. It is a walk of faith, because typically at first, the last thing their flesh wants to do is what is required of them. It takes a lot of courage. We have seen it usually takes a year of faithful focus and work for solid renewing of the mind to begin to take effect. This may seem like a long time and a lot of investment but we have seen the evidence in our own healing processes and in those clients who are willing to trudge through and pull the weeds to heal. The benefits gained in quality of life are well worth the effort and cost of learning healthy ways of relating and living life.

"For I know the plans I have for you declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
